Quick Answer

Clearwater and mid-Pinellas patients receive Emsella at Haven Psychiatry & Wellness on the Pinellas Bayway in St. Petersburg. Sessions last 28 minutes, you stay fully clothed, and a standard course is six sessions over roughly three weeks.

Why Clearwater Comes to Haven

A large share of our Emsella patients from Clearwater, Largo and Seminole arrive after years of managing the problem privately — pads, mapped bathroom routes, skipping the tennis or pickleball they used to play. Pinellas County skews older than the state average in several of these communities, and pelvic floor weakness after childbirth, menopause, or prostate surgery is common enough to be unremarkable and quiet enough that few people raise it with their physician.

Emsella is attractive precisely because it removes the barriers that stop people asking. You sit on a chair, fully clothed, for 28 minutes. There is no exam, no probe, and nothing to recover from afterward. Patients frequently bring a book.

Because Clearwater is in the same county, patients can choose between highway and beach routes when planning twice-weekly visits. If the assessment suggests the pelvic floor is not the whole story, Haven has a physician and a chiropractor on site to look further rather than sending you elsewhere to start over.

Emsella uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to produce thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor contractions in a single 28-minute seated session — strengthening muscles most people cannot effectively train on their own. Full detail on candidacy and protocol is on the Emsella page.

A cause, not just a treatment

Post-menopausal and post-surgical incontinence have different drivers. The assessment establishes which one you are dealing with before a protocol is set.

We will tell you if we think Emsella alone is unlikely to be enough for your situation. That conversation is more useful than a discounted package.

Emsella in Clearwater — FAQ

How far is the drive from Clearwater, and how often would I come?

A standard course is six sessions across roughly three weeks — usually two visits a week. Travel time varies by route and season.

I am post-menopausal. Does Emsella still work?

Yes — post-menopausal patients are one of the largest groups treated with Emsella. Tissue changes after menopause affect pelvic floor support, and strengthening the muscles remains effective. Your assessment will cover whether anything else should be addressed alongside it.

Can Emsella help after prostate surgery?

Many men are treated for post-prostatectomy urinary leakage. The session is the same: seated, fully clothed, 28 minutes. Timing relative to your surgery matters, so mention the date when you call.

Does it hurt?

No. You feel strong contractions in the pelvic floor and a tingling sensation, which is unusual at first but not painful. Intensity is raised gradually and you can ask for it to be adjusted at any point.

What happens after the six sessions?

Many patients maintain their results with an occasional single session — commonly a couple of times a year. We will discuss what maintenance, if any, makes sense for you once we see how you respond.
